Older Americans Month Observance Continues

Givens Communities embraces the month of May as Older Americans Month, an observance led by the Administration for Community Living, a federal agency that supports older adults through research, education, and innovation.

The 2024 theme is “Powered by Connection,” which recognizes the profound impact that meaningful relationships and social connections have on health and well-being. Social isolation is a serious global health concern that is harmful to older adults’ health and well-being and leads to increases in serious diseases and even premature death.

“It is important to think about how we age and opportunities for fulfillment, health and happiness,” said Geoffrey Cantrell, public relations director with Givens Communities. “It is equally important to understand the contributions that seniors make – and how we all benefit when older adults remain engaged, independent and valued for their achievements. The involvement of older Americans in many facets of life demonstrates strength, motivation and resilience with results that touch everyone, of any age.”

It’s not too late to make plans before the month is over. Visit this site for group projects, events, and storytelling as ways to connect.
