Kevin Schwab, Chief Executive Officer of Givens Communities, shared his optimism for the future and reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to expanding access to quality, affordable housing. Attendees were inspired by his remarks outlining the critical role affordable housing plays in strengthening communities throughout Western North Carolina.

“Affordable housing is one of the most important needs facing our communities today,” said Schwab. “At Givens, we are committed to creating places where people can thrive, build connections, and have access to safe, high-quality housing for years to come.”

Andrew Crosson, Executive Director of Affordable Communities, spoke about the momentum behind Givens’ affordable housing efforts and the collaborative work taking place to serve more individuals and families across Western North Carolina.

“What we’re building goes beyond housing,” said Crosson. “We’re creating communities where neighbors can connect, support one another, and feel a true sense of belonging. The work happening today will have a lasting impact on families and communities for generations.”

Joey Abel, Givens Communities Director of Impact, reflected on the organization’s mission-driven approach while recognizing the team members who make Givens Affordable Communities possible. Abel emphasized that the evening was not only a celebration of growth and future developments, but also a tribute to the dedicated staff whose passion and commitment have helped shape the organization into what it is today.

“Tonight is really about celebrating our Givens Affordable Communities team members,” said Abel. “The impact we are able to make across Western North Carolina would not be possible without their hard work, compassion, and dedication. Every success we’ve experienced and every community we’re building is a reflection of the people who show up every day committed to serving others. Givens Affordable Communities would not be what it is today without them, and this evening is an opportunity to recognize and thank them for all they do.”

Guests also heard exciting updates about the future growth of Givens Affordable Communities, including plans for Givens Clinchfield Mill in Marion and Givens Webster Village in Sylva, both of which are expected to break ground in the near future. These developments represent the next chapter in Givens’ ongoing commitment to addressing affordable housing needs throughout Western North Carolina.

The announcements underscored Givens’ long-term vision of expanding access to affordable housing while creating communities where residents can thrive, build relationships, and remain connected to the places they call home.

As the evening concluded, attendees departed with a renewed sense of optimism and purpose, having celebrated not only the accomplishments of Givens Affordable Communities but also the team members, partners, and supporters helping shape its future.

The Spirit of Community Reception served as a powerful reminder that when people come together around a shared mission, meaningful change is possible. Through continued collaboration, investment, and community support, Givens Affordable Communities is helping build a stronger future for Western North Carolina, one community at a time.
