50 Years of Senior Living Excellence Brings Proclamation

Givens Communities is celebrating half a century dedicated to providing exceptional senior living, nurturing vibrant connections, and evolving in harmony with the changing needs of residents and the region.

Thursday, Aug. 21, has been designated as “Givens Communities Day in Asheville” by mayoral proclamation, which reads, in part, that “with compassion, vision, and a steadfast commitment to older adults for 50 years, enhancing the lives of thousands through innovative senior living, housing, and life enrichment programs …. with a mission to provide a safe and caring environment for aging adults, Givens Communities has grown from a single campus to a network of four distinctive communities and outreach services, continuing to lead with excellence, inclusion, and dignity.”

Givens Communities is comprised of Givens Estates in Asheville, Givens Highland Farms in Black Mountain, and affordable communities of Givens Gerber Park in south Asheville, Givens Great Laurels in Waynesville and soon to include Aldersgate Retirement Community in Charlotte. Aging in place programs serving WNC are Givens Choice and Givens Home Choice. Community outreach is provided by Givens Life Ministries, providing health and wellness programs, and Givens Philanthropy, supporting civic endeavors and arts and culture.

Recognized as a workplace of choice, Givens Careers includes employment, career development, internships, apprenticeships and in-house instruction.

Givens Communities began with a simple, profound idea: to create a place where older adults could live with dignity, purpose and companionship, a senior living community that would provide not just housing, but a welcoming environment fostering independence and well-being for all. Heading into the future, that philosophy remains.
