Organics, Orders, and OSHA: A Chat with Shane Memory
Shane Memory has been a valuable asset to the Givens Estates team. Having been with Givens for four years, Shane has dedicated himself to incorporating the community’s values in all that he does on behalf of the residents and team members at Givens Estates.
Having started in the Grounds Department, Shane earned his commercial licenses for ornamental & turf as well as his certification in structural pest control & pesticide. Recognizing our commitment to the natural environment, he earned an organics certification and applied those learnings to our beautiful campus.
Now in Facility Services, Shane performs a wide variety of duties as Inventory Control Manager. He is responsible for ordering and managing the inventory for maintenance including replacement parts, personal protective equipment (PPE), air quality supplies, and appliances to name a few. Shane was instrumental in acquiring Amazon approval for hospital grade supplies such as N95 face masks, face shields, safety glasses, gloves, and UV lights. While some long-term care communities were short on these needed supplies, Shane was able to acquire them for Givens Estates to help keep residents and team members safe.
Shane is also the Maintenance Technician for the maintenance building, grounds building, guard house, Manor house, and homes on Far Horizons Lane, providing routine and repair maintenance to these areas on campus. Lastly, Shane is responsible for conducting all the safety checks for Grounds and Maintenance. He routinely looks for trip hazards, clear access to eye wash stations and checks the emergency lights and fire extinguishers. Committed to resident and team member safety, Shane is currently working on his OSHA certification. Shane shared that he feels Givens Estates is a special place to work. “It’s like family here. Leadership really cares about us.” Shane encourages everyone he knows to work here if they can.
