Meet Lora Harris: Nurse of 37 Years
Lora Harris, Director of Nursing at the Givens Estates Health Center, has been a nurse for 37 years. Learn a little more about the service she has rendered as we honor all nurses for this 2021 National Nurses Week.
What are a few of your primary responsibilities?
I oversee care delivery and nursing staff in the health center
What are some of your values and how do they align with the Givens Estates mission, vision, and values?
My faith is what guides me day-to-day and I consider my career a ministry. I want to make a difference in the lives of the residents I serve and the environment at Givens allows me to do just that.
Of what achievement or contribution to Givens Estates are you most proud?
The past year of dealing with the Covid pandemic and how it impacted residents, families, and staff was very challenging. Honestly, one of the hardest years of my nursing career. I am thankful that I was at Givens where the entire campus offered support and our team worked together during a very difficult time. We are now, hopefully, on the other side of the darkness and can move forward with the focus on providing a great care environment for our residents.
What attracted you to working at Givens Estates?
Givens has a great reputation in the community, and the employee benefits are wonderful.
What do you like about coming to Givens Estates every day?
I love driving up our mountain knowing each day will hold new challenges and opportunities.
What brings you joy?
I have a 4-year-old grandson named Charles who is my joy.
