Meet Connie Pasternak: Clinical Educator and Infection Preventionist

Connie Pasternak, RN, MSN has been a nurse for 25 years. Learn a little more about the service she has rendered as we honor all nurses for this 2021 National Nurses Week.

What are a few of your primary responsibilities?

Education of staff, Monitoring Infections, coordinating and administering vaccines, new employee orientation, provide CPR training.

What goals are you currently working toward achieving?

I recently became Fit Testing certified and became a certified CPR Instructor. I am currently working toward testing and training staff.

What are some of your values and how do they align with the Givens Estates mission, vision, and values?

Love and compassion for seniors, desire to share knowledge/educate others, as Maya Angelou is quoted as saying, “When you learn, teach. When you get, give.”

What inspires you?

The beauty of nature which is here at the Givens Estates is all around us.

Of what achievement or contribution to Givens Estates are you most proud?

Providing education on the COVID-19 vaccine and helping to distribute it to residents and staff.

What attracted you to working at Givens Estates?

Its non-profit status, the beauty of the area, and the fact that it is a continuing care community that serves seniors.

What do you like about coming to Givens Estates every day?

Collaborating with colleagues & meeting with residents.

How is your job rewarding?

Feeling useful by providing needed services, especially during a difficult year.

What is a fun fact about you?

I have 3 daughters and 3 grandsons.

What is one word that describes you best?

Tenacious
