Givens Estates Assisted Living Receives Four Stars

The N.C. Division of Health Service Regulation, NCDHSR, rated the Richard A. Wood Jr. Assisted Living Center at Givens Estates a 4-star facility, which is the highest rating possible in its North Carolina Star Rated Certificate Program.

“The North Carolina Star Rated Certificate program for assisted living facilities, also called adult care homes and family care homes, was established in response to requests of North Carolina citizens for increased availability of public information regarding the care provided in adult care facilities,” According to NCDHSR’s website.

The Star Rating Program is a tool helping consumers learn more about their care options when researching assisted living facilities. It can also be a tool to help consumers learn more about the care offered in senior living communities.

This process is completed through an unannounced facility survey. On November 10, surveyors from the NCDHSR visited the Givens Estates campus in Asheville, N.C. The surveyors completed an unannounced survey and reviewed documentation, dining, resident care, cleanliness, activities, and many other areas. During the process, they interviewed team members, residents, and family members. The survey team cited no issues and reported a deficiency free survey.

“The rating is a credit to the teamwork and attention to detail to out residents, said David Moore the Health Services Director for Givens Estates in a Health Services update. “This could not have been achieved without the support and dedication of Environmental Services, Nursing, Dining, Life Enrichment, Maintenance, and the rest of those who support Wood Assisted Living. After the many challenges of the pandemic over the past three years, we celebrate this together.”
