Outreach Ministries

Since the early 1980's, Givens Estates has been committed to reaching out beyond our campus in support of the greater Asheville and western North Carolina region. Through partnerships and several outreach ministries, we are able to extend our mission and concern for people in several unique ways:
The Great Laurels of Junaluska –
The Great Laurels of Junaluska is an affordable senior community in Haywood County near Lake Junaluska Assembly.

Givens Estates was invited to develop and oversee this project in 2006. Following the grand opening in October 2007, the Great Laurels are now home to 120 residents. This new community is a strong testimony to Givens’ commitment to outreach beyond our campus.

MemoryCare

MemoryCare is a separate, not-for-profit organization, headed by Margaret (Peggy) Noel, MD, a nationally known physician specializing in elder care. The clinic helps diagnose individuals struggling with memory disorders and provides needed education for the caregiver. Drs. Virginia H. Templeton and Thomas S. Kaluzynski have joined this growing clinic, now serving over 460 patients and over 1,200 caregivers. This is the only such facility in Western North Carolina.

WNC-UMAR
WNC-UMAR is an organization serving people who are developmentally disabled in the western region of North Carolina. Since 1994 Givens Estates has partnered with WNC-UMAR by making land available on our campus for a six-person group home. UMAR's mission is to promote community inclusion, independence and growth.
